Superman #4 (April '87)

Confronting social issues, by this time, was nothing new in comics. This time, what happens as the result of war is tackled. Although specifically, the Vietnam War is referenced, but I think this could apply to those affected by any war.

Bloodsport... He Plays For Keeps!

C'mon Lucy! This could be a big break for me!

FOOLS! ANIMALS!!

Bloodsport! (Notice the tip of the hat to the old days "Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olden." Sometimes I miss those stories)

No words.

And here's Maggie Sawyer. She ended up being one of my favorite characters.

You heard the man Lucy.

SUPERMAN!

Instead...You can eat... THIS!!

Hold it creep!!

J-Jimmy...

Doctor Sanchez! How is he?

Wow, who would've thought? Luthor's behind this.

That's Enough!

GNHGH!!

You're a dead man! (Yeah, right.)

Wait a minute!

Nooooo!!

Not while I'm still breathing.

Please -- Let it end.

Unfortunately, war is never over for those who survive them.
