Man Of Steel #1 (Oct 1986)

This was the major milestone. Byrne had promised how different things would be and we discovered how right he was. The tagline, "The Comics Event Of The Century!" promised much through its hype, but did DC ever deliver.

And we start things with a new Krypton. Cold  and sterile. The green sky is a nice touch.

To emphasize the sterility, a barrier exists between father and son.

Oh, the horror. Bare flesh.

Farewell!!

And young Kal-El takes a piece of Krypton with him.

The Secret

And Pa shows Clark the rocket.

It's a baby!!

Side note: It was revealed later that the Manhunters caused the blizzard.

P-Pa....?

An onlooker? Oh this is going to turn out well.... NOT! Spoiler Alert: He's Metallo's creator.
The Exposure
Clark discovers what's very different in the post-Crisis world. Heroes are  not viewed as people anymore. They're  mearly oddities, nothing more.
Henshaw?
That fateful first meeting.
Up, up, and awayyyyyyy!!!
